Divorce

Untitled Document If a marriage between a Turkish citizen and a foreigner was solemnized in the foreigner's Country and then registered in Turkey or both solemnized and registered in Turkey, regardless of the divorce decree that may be obtained in the foreigner's country, a suit of divorce should be filed in Turkey as well. A Power of Attorney must be given to a solicitor and he/she will commence the divorce proceedings.

Turkish Civil Law has no statement on sharing the movables and immovable. In case of divorce, please note that the immovable items (house, car, etc.) are under the ownership of the party on which said items are registered. Movable objects (furniture, refrigerator, TV etc) belong to the party "who got them first". It may sound like high jacking but unfortunately this is the reality.

Waiting period: Married women whose marriages have been dissolved cannot marry before the expiration of three hundred (300) days from the date of dissolution. The divorce decree may also state a waiting period within which the guilty spouse may not remarry.

I saw all the comments and my wonder was why alway attaching people from countries like turkey, north africa or easter europe for their ”ways” of getting visa! you want to make marriage more difficult with them! why not making visa easier so? why the world should have borders why only peole just ”lucky” for being borned in the ”better”countires can travel and settle around however they want? dont you see this is unfair? why that wall with only one door gate from one side ?

I am a UK citizen living in the UK and have found out recently my Turkish husband only married me to get a visa and come here. We married in Turkey and I was his sponsor for the visa. After 7 months together in the UK he has left me and is trying to change his immigration status to remain here. I now know he lied and deceived me into marriage. Through research I have found this is a common situation but it´s devasted my life and he´s causing all sorts of difficulties for me, including refusing a divorce.

Too many turkish men marry english women for the wrong reasons. It should be made more difficult for them.

A turkish man who marries an english woman in turkey, then wants to divorce her in England must have a valuable reason for the divorce and not just separation and consent.
