Dutch documentary filmmaker Heddy Honigmann is the honorary guest of the festival. In addition to retrospective screenings of the director’s best-known films, the festival will host a “cinema class” taught by Honigmann.
This year, the festival is supported by the Consulate General of The Netherlands, Institut Français de Turquie, Consulate General of Greece, Dimitrie Cantemir Romanian Cultural Institute, Goethe Institut, Consulate General of the Czech Republic, Anadolu Kultur, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Armada Hotel.
The 5th Documentarist is hosting 90 films by 30 guests. The films will be screened under several categories including “Arab World: The Winds of Change,” “Greece: Neighbor’s (Bad) Fortune.” “Documenting Memories,” and “Music Documentaries.”
Festival venues of the Documentarist - 5th Istanbul Documentary Days are Akbank Art, Institut Français, Aynali Geçit Venue, SALT Beyoglu and Romanian Cultural Institute.
