Istanbul Jazz Festival

Untitled Document Organized by Istanbul Foundation for Art and Culture (IKSV) and sponsored by Garanti Bank, International Istanbul Jazz Festival celebrates its 19th anniversary in 2012.

The 19th  International Istanbul Jazz Festival, with more than 300  local and foreign musicians and over 50 concerts, is preparing to transform Istanbul into a jazz city between July 3 and 19, 2012.

This year, the concerts in the Istanbul Jazz Festival will be held in classic venues such as  Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theatre, Istanbul Archaeology Museum, Istanbul Modern, Salon İKSV and The Marmara Esma Sultan, as well as one of the last year’s favourite venues Bilgi University santralistanbul Kıyı Amfi. Haliç Congress Center and Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum will be used for the first time as the festival venues. The festival will expand to the city with more than 20 different venues.

The program presents a wide range of musical genres varying from classical and modern jazz to pop, rock, ethnic and folk music.

The 19th Istanbul Jazz Festival will begin with the Opening Ceremony to be held on Tuesday, 3 July at The Marmara Esma Sultan.

The third of the Tünel Feast, will meet the music-lovers on Saturday, July 7, 2012. A “festival within the festival” will continue until late night with concerts, workshops, special exhibitions, treats and events in the streets and many different venues of Beyoğlu, Şişhane, Galata and Asmalımescit areas alongside the main stages to be established at Tünel and Galata squares.
