Sakarya Market

Untitled Document This is actually an open-air shopping mall, catering to all different needs and tastes. Circulation is high and shops serving comparably lower prices are also located in this area.

Fish markets, flower shops, natural health food, and spice stores add a different color to the market. As you enter into the market region, you will be greeted with rough screams of fisherman, praising the freshness of their fish. For the first timer this could be alarming. Fish you purchase here will be cleaned and prepared according to your recipe requirements. (Don't forget to tip the guy). Located downtown, various seafood arrive this area. Because of easy accessibility, sea products are shipped overnight. For rare fish it's better for you to visit before noon, moreover squid, mussels and shrimps are usually hard to find.

If you get hungry during your hectic shopping spree, you can help yourself to one of the fast-food stores, serving local specialties. There are also restaurants within the area, delivering delicious dishes with reasonable prices. Keep in mind that beer houses and pubs located towards the north of the market, preferred by middle class people.

This area is closed to traffic and parking is almost impossible therefore taking your own car is not recommended. Although there is a multi-level parking garage at the south entrance of the area, possibility of it being full is high. To play it safe, just take a taxi, or the public transport bus to Kızılay.
