Taxation
Check whether the price announced on the goods contains VAT. It is better if you see the label Fiyatlarımıza KDV Dahildir which means, "VAT is included in our prices".
Your employer deducts Turkish income tax (Gelir Vergisi) from your salary. With regard to your home country's income tax laws, consult your Consulate for rules and regulations.
If you have your own business it is strongly recommended to have advice from a financial auditor.
Other taxes to be paid include:
Car tax (Taşıt Vergisi) paid in two installments: January and July.
Property tax (Emlak Vergisi) should be paid in two installments: May
and November.

anser to sunworshipper, first of all your question wasnt clear but i am thinking those houses are in turkey, if you rented your place to somebody else, you have to declare this income to tax office every year before 15th of march form called 1001b forms called as property income tax, when you fill in that form there are some criterias such as in 2006 if your rental income higer then 2200 ytl per year then taxable and have to declare to tax office and there are some advantage you can deduct from your rent income, such as services cost, deprication, emlak vergisi(property tax), property insurances, or some development constructions, and so on, after all this cost remain amount will be taxable, dont forget to keep all your receipt

Answer to kathy1951, Bina and Emlak vergisi same thing but called as different name, emlak (bina) Vergisi, you have to pay 2 times a year may and november, calculation is very simple, for house %0.1 for fields, lands %0.6 depends on value of property also where is located your property such us located in border of Belediye or outside of belediye, every year, all Belediyes are doing inflation correction roughly increasing %50 percent of inflation

in answer to Kathy1951. Bina vergisi is the equivalent of your council tax over here.
Emlak vergisi is what you have to pay for renting your property out (approx.£200 per year)

As explained to us recently by another American who lives in Turkey and owns rental property here in Turkey - We are to pay Turkish taxes on income earned on Turkish rental property. This much we knew. However, he also told us that income earned in America that finds its way to Turkey is officially taxable!! We are guessing it can be tracked through our bank account to which a tax ID was assigned. Does anybody know about this??

Your mention about property tax, Does ´Emlak Vergisi´ mean the same as ´Bina Vergisi
I´m very confused about this.
I pay ´Bina Vergisi´ once a year, where I pay my water bill, is there another tax I have to pay???
Thanks Kathy

Hi everyone, this website is a real find me and my husband. We have recently moved to Turkey and have 3 apartments, two of which we rent out to holiday makers. Upto now we have paid tax in the uk on any profit made. Now we are living here, can i still continue to pay our taxes through the uk tax return system as all our income from the rentals is generated in the uk and stays in the uk, for longterm investment. We do not actually work in Turkey. We are confused as to what we should be legally doing. Any advise?
