It cannot be emphasized enough that drinkdriving almost certainly will cost you to loose your driving license for 6 months! It is not legal for Turkish traffic police to collect and keep foreign driving licenses, but they do that anyway and your embassy is not able to help you, neither the foreigners administration (Yabancı Şube). If caught within Istanbul´s usual bar zone your license probably is kept by the Gayrettepe Police Station. Your driving license will be returend to you via foreign affairs to your embassy, a nightmare of waiting and taxi bills.
