The now old New Turkish Lira (YTL) banknotes will be withdrawn from circulation as of January 1, 2010. However, the New Turkish Lira (YTL) banknotes will be redeemed for a period of ten years starting from January 1, 2010 until the closure of working hours on December 31, 2019 at the branches of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey and Ziraat Bank. The New Turkish Lira (YTL) banknotes will be of no value as of January 1, 2020.

Eurochecks can be cashed immediately as can travelers checks upon producing identification. The most widely accepted cards are: Visa and MasterCard, American Express, Eurocard and Diner's Club. Exchange offices are called Döviz Bürosu and are widely available in touristy places. They are generally open until midnight.
The Turkish State Mint, provides circulation of coins and bank notes, commemoration coins etc.
Note: You may exchange travelers' checks at Post Offices in some tourist places

SIXTEEN PERCENT INTEREST offered by Yapi Kredi on Turkish Lire One Month savings accounts is amazing. i.e. double your money in about 5 years!
